Afghanistan, Uzbekistan Experts Hold Talks on Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

DID Press: A high-level expert meeting on the future of the Central Asia–Afghanistan Consultative Dialogue highlighted the pivotal role of think tanks in advancing regional cooperation and policy coordination.

The session was hosted by the International Institute for Central Asia in the city of Tashkent and organized by the Afghanistan Strategic Studies Center. Representatives from the Afghan Embassy in Uzbekistan, think tank members, and leading policy experts from both countries participated in the forum.

During the meeting, Javlon Vakhabov described the first round of consultative dialogue held in Kabul as a significant step toward strengthening constructive and pragmatic cooperation between Afghanistan and Central Asian states. He emphasized that think tanks can play a critical role by providing policy expertise and actionable recommendations to advance regional partnerships.

Meanwhile, Abdulhai Qanit praised the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev for promoting regional cooperation, noting that Uzbekistan’s economy-driven foreign policy approach has injected new momentum into relations with Kabul.

Participants concluded the meeting by underscoring the importance of expanding cooperation frameworks, strengthening expert-level dialogue, and operationalizing joint initiatives to enhance regional engagement and economic connectivity.
