Taliban Holds Inter-Ministerial Meeting on Regulating Work Visa Issuance
DID Press: An inter-ministerial meeting has been held in Afghanistan to review and improve the process of issuing work visas for foreign nationals.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, with participation from representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Information and Culture.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, discussions focused on improving the regulation of work visa issuance, preventing foreign nationals from engaging in employment while holding tourist visas, and facilitating the work permit process through a clearer administrative framework.
Officials emphasized that establishing a transparent and organized system could improve the management of foreign labor and reduce potential violations.
In the same meeting, Deputy Minister of Finance and Tourism at the Ministry of Information and Culture Qudratullah Jamal described the presence of foreign nationals as important for increasing national revenue and supporting economic growth.
He added that simplifying administrative procedures and creating a favorable environment for foreign participation could contribute significantly to broader economic development.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to balance the regulation of foreign labor with the protection of domestic employment opportunities, which remain a priority for relevant Afghan institutions.
