Religious Scholar Killed in Armed Attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

DID Press: Pakistani police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have confirmed that Sheikh Muhammad Idris Turangzai, a prominent religious scholar linked to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, was killed in an armed attack in the Charsadda district.

According to police officials, the incident also left members of his security detail injured. The attackers fled the scene after the assault, and an investigation has been launched.

Turangzai had reportedly visited Afghanistan in 2024, where he met Hibatullah Akhundzada to discuss possible solutions related to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Security authorities in Pakistan say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
