EU to Invite Taliban Delegation to Brussels for Migration Talks
DID Press: European Commission announced Monday evening that it plans to invite a Taliban delegation to Brussels for discussions on the deportation of Afghan migrants from Europe.

According to reports by Agence France-Presse, informed sources said an official letter will “soon” be sent to Kabul to arrange the meeting, with the process being coordinated by Sweden.
No exact date has yet been set for the talks. However, European officials are reportedly expected to make two separate visits to Afghanistan before any Taliban delegation travels to Brussels.
A spokesperson for the European Commission confirmed that a “technical meeting” between the sides had already taken place in January.
Swedish officials say the deportation process for Afghan migrants has faced major legal and logistical challenges, while the policy has drawn criticism from opposition parties and human rights organizations across Europe.
The planned engagement comes as European governments continue debating migration policies and the future of relations with the Taliban administration in Afghanistan.
