US Senate Supports Measure to End War Against Iran

DID Press: US Senate has, for the first time, approved a resolution calling on the government to end military involvement in the war against Iran.

In a vote held Tuesday and broadcast live on C-SPAN, 50 senators voted in favor and 47 against. The measure gained support from most Democrats, along with four Republicans: Rand Paul of Kentucky, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana. Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the only Democrat to vote against the measure.

The Senate had previously rejected similar proposals seven times.

According to The Hill, even if the resolution passes both chambers of Congress, US President Donald Trump is expected to veto it.

The United States and Israel reportedly began military operations against Iran on February 28.
