Pakistan Condemns Deadly Train Attack in Quetta

DID Press: Top officials in Pakistan have strongly condemned a deadly attack on a passenger train in Quetta, as authorities launch a large-scale investigation into the incident that left dozens dead and injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the incident as a “terrorist attack against innocent civilians” and expressed deep sorrow over the high number of casualties.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti also condemned the attack, calling it an assault on civilians and confirming that security and judicial bodies have begun a full investigation to identify those responsible.

Local reports suggest that at least 34 people were killed and 96 injured, while some Pakistani media outlets reported lower figures of around 19 dead and 70 wounded. Several injured are said to be in critical condition.

Following the explosion, emergency measures were imposed at government hospitals in Quetta, with medical staff mobilized to treat the wounded.

Meanwhile, the “Majeed Brigade,” a faction linked to the Baloch Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the target was a train carrying security personnel. Pakistani officials, however, insist that the majority of victims were civilians.
