Wheat Harvest Expected to Rise Over 50% in Herat Province

DID Press: Authorities from the Taliban-run Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Herat Province say wheat production has seen a significant increase this year, with rain-fed wheat yields expected to rise by more than 50% compared to last year.

Officials attributed the projected growth to favorable weather conditions and improved precipitation during the winter and spring seasons, which enhanced agricultural output across the province.

Bashir Ahmad Ahmadi, an agricultural affairs officer, said field assessments indicate a substantial improvement in crop performance, particularly in rain-fed wheat cultivation.

He noted that winter snowfall and spring rainfall played a decisive role in improving soil conditions, increasing farmland productivity, and strengthening overall agricultural yields.

Herat, along with several other provinces in Afghanistan, experienced relatively strong seasonal precipitation this year, which agricultural experts say has had a positive impact on farming output nationwide.
