UNAMA to Brief UN Security Council on Afghanistan

DID Press: UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has announced that senior UN officials will brief the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Afghanistan during a meeting scheduled for Monday (June 8).

According to UNAMA, Georgette Gagnon and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Deputy Representative for Afghanistan will present an update on political, security, economic, and humanitarian developments in the country.

The meeting is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. New York time (6:30 p.m. Kabul time), with Security Council members expected to review the latest conditions and challenges facing Afghanistan.

UN officials are expected to share their assessment of the current situation, including ongoing humanitarian concerns and broader political developments.

The Security Council is also expected to discuss the future of UNAMA’s mandate in Afghanistan as part of its deliberations.
