Taliban Reject Claims of Foreign Armed Groups Operating in Afghanistan

DID Press: Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has rejected recent allegations by Pakistani and Tajik officials regarding the presence of armed groups in Afghanistan, insisting that no foreign militant organizations are operating in the country.

Speaking to media outlets, Mujahid said claims about the presence of armed groups in Afghanistan are not new and have been repeatedly raised over the years, including before the Taliban’s return to power.

His remarks came after the interior ministers of Pakistan and Tajikistan reportedly expressed concerns on the sidelines of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, alleging that the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan poses security risks to the region.

Mujahid dismissed those assertions and reiterated that Taliban security forces maintain full control over Afghanistan’s territory and that security has been ensured across the country.

The statement reflects ongoing differences between the Taliban administration and several regional governments over assessments of Afghanistan’s security situation and the activities of militant groups in the region.
