China Urges SCO to Back Afghanistan Reconstruction Efforts
DID Press: China has urged members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to support Afghanistan’s reconstruction and development efforts while strengthening regional stability and security cooperation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during a ceremony in Beijing marking the 25th anniversary of the SCO, according to Chinese state media reports.
Wang stressed that the SCO should play a stronger role as a stabilizing and constructive force in global affairs and uphold common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security principles.
He also highlighted the importance of promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and called on member states to actively support Afghanistan’s reconstruction and development process.
The SCO, founded in Shanghai in 2001, has expanded from six founding members to a 10-member organization, along with two observer states and 15 dialogue partners, making it one of the largest regional organizations by geographic coverage and population.
