US Debt Tops $40 Trillion, Raising Questions About the Dollar’s Future

DID Press: Gerald Celente, founder of the Trends Research Institute, has warned that the United States’ economic standing and the future of the US dollar could come under pressure as the country’s national debt surpasses $40 trillion.

Celente said China is expanding its economic influence, while India is also advancing in technology and global trade.

Comparing the trade approaches of the United States and China, he argued that the growing emphasis on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies could reshape the global economic balance of power.

The economic analyst also pointed to rising Treasury yields and borrowing costs as signs of mounting pressure on the US economy. He said higher interest payments on government debt, combined with constraints on federal revenue, could deepen Washington’s fiscal challenges.

Celente described the situation as a sign that the dollar’s dominance may be entering a period of decline. Citing an estimate attributed to Fortune magazine, he also claimed that when the US government’s long-term obligations are included, its total financial commitments exceed $126 trillion.
