DID Press: Pakistan Interior Ministry has introduced one of its most extensive security deployments in recent years for the month of Muharram in Islamabad, combining drone surveillance, digital monitoring systems, and a large-scale ground security operation.

Authorities said the plan includes aerial monitoring through drones and real-time oversight via approximately 3,000 closed-circuit television cameras across the capital. A dedicated mobile application, “Muharram Mahfooz,” has also been launched to allow citizens to report potential threats or incidents instantly.
At the operational level, a four-layer security framework has been implemented along routes of religious processions and gathering points. The system includes physical screening, electronic checks, rapid response units, and reinforced security perimeters around sensitive locations.
According to officials, more than 15,000 security personnel and 500 traffic officers have been deployed to manage 170 processions and 930 religious gatherings from the start of Muharram until the 19th of Safar.
The government has also announced a zero-tolerance policy toward the spread of provocative, sectarian, or inflammatory content online, stating that strict legal action will be taken against any activity deemed to threaten public order.
