Qatar Ambassador Visits Panjshir, Pledges Investment

DID Press: Qatar’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Murdif bin Ali Al-Qashouti, has visited Panjshir province for the first time, with local Taliban officials highlighting the province’s agricultural and mineral potential and calling for greater investment from Islamic countries.

The visit was organized as part of efforts by the Taliban administration in Panjshir to attract investment and development projects to the province.Mohammad Agha Hakim, the Taliban-appointed governor of Panjshir, described relations between Afghanistan and Qatar as important and called for increased investment by Islamic countries and Arab businessmen in the province.

Hakim highlighted Panjshir’s potential in horticulture, agriculture and mining, saying apples, cherries, grapes and walnuts are among the province’s main agricultural products.

He said the province also has significant mineral resources, with mining underway at around 600 sites and another 2,000 deposits identified.Al-Qashouti described Afghanistan as a brotherly country and a longstanding friend of Qatar and reaffirmed Doha’s support for Afghanistan.

He said Qatar was committed to implementing development projects in Panjshir and would invest in establishing companies to process fresh and dried fruit.
