Iranian Navy Responds to US “Violation” With Strikes on American Positions in Region

DID Press: The naval branch of the IRGC says it has targeted US military positions in the region following what it described as American airstrikes on Iran’s southern coastline and violations of a ceasefire in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the IRGC said the escalation followed “air attacks on Iran’s coastal areas” and “the breach of the Lebanon ceasefire by Israel,” adding that US forces were targeted in response.

According to the statement, the United States carried out the strike under the pretext of intercepting a “violating vessel” in the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran described as an illegal action in violation of existing understandings on maritime passage.

The IRGC further accused Washington of attempting to undermine provisions related to maritime traffic management in the region and warned that any repetition of such actions would be met with a “broader response.”

A US official, speaking to The New York Times, said the strikes did not mark the beginning of a broader military campaign against Iran. Meanwhile, Arab media reported heightened alert levels at US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Fox News, citing a US military source, reported that American military strikes against Iran had concluded.
