Pakistan Orders Immediate Arrest of Undocumented Afghan Migrants

DID Press: Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has issued a directive ordering security forces to identify and detain Afghan nationals without valid documentation, in a move that significantly intensifies pressure on migrants across the country.

According to the order, issued by the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan, provincial governments, special administrative regions, and authorities in Islamabad have been instructed to accelerate the identification, arrest, and deportation of undocumented Afghan nationals.

The directive states that from 10 July 2026, any Afghan citizen found in Pakistan without a valid visa will be subject to immediate arrest. It also calls for strict implementation of the “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan” (IFRP).

Authorities have been instructed to submit daily reports starting 11 July, detailing arrest operations and deportation progress.

The policy further clarifies that individuals whose visas have expired will also fall under the new enforcement measures, with local administrations directed to expedite removal procedures.

The Interior Ministry emphasized that full cooperation from all security and law enforcement agencies is required, describing the implementation of the directive as a top national priority.
