Major Demining Operation Begins in Eastern Afghanistan
DID Press: A major demining project covering more than 1.8 million square meters of land contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance has been launched in eastern Afghanistan with a budget exceeding 563,000 US dollars.

The agreement was signed between the National Disaster Management Authority and the ARIA Mine Action Institute to implement clearance operations in eastern provinces.
According to the deal, contaminated areas across Nangarhar Province, Kunar Province, and Nuristan Province will be cleared as part of the initiative.
Officials say the project aims to reduce risks from landmines, improve civilian safety, and enable the safe reuse of contaminated land for agriculture and habitation.
They added that the program is expected to prevent civilian casualties, particularly among children, and support recovery in conflict-affected communities.
