US Pressures Foreign States to Skip Iran Funeral Ceremony

DID Press: A well-informed source has claimed that the United States has applied diplomatic pressure in recent days to discourage foreign officials and delegations from attending a ceremony honoring “martyr leader” of the Islamic Revolution.

According to the source, US officials have launched a coordinated campaign over the past five days urging countries not to participate in the event.

The source said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a confidential directive on 26 June to US embassies, describing participation in the ceremony as a “non-friendly act” and warning of consequences for bilateral relations.

Rubio also reportedly held talks with the foreign ministers of at least five Arab states, while US ambassadors in several African countries were allegedly warned of possible cuts to development aid.

The source further claimed that at least 13 countries—including states from Eastern Europe, Africa, the Gulf region, and East Asia—have withdrawn from attending the ceremony following US pressure.
