Mohaqiq Urges Calm, Warns Against Social Media Exploitation

DID Press: Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the Islamic Unity Party of the People of Afghanistan, has urged supporters and political opponents to refrain from fueling tensions on social media following reactions to his attendance at a farewell ceremony for what he described as the “Martyred Imam of the Islamic Revolution.

“In a public statement, Mohaqiq called for calm and stressed the importance of respecting the occasion, saying any controversy surrounding the event should not be used to create divisions between Afghanistan and Iran.

Addressing his supporters, he said they should consider themselves “brothers, not guests” alongside the Iranian people and avoid complaints or online disputes. He added that he did not believe any deliberate slight had occurred and urged them to preserve the dignity of the ceremony.

Mohaqiq also appealed to political rivals and critics not to speak on his behalf or exploit the incident online, saying he would respond personally if necessary.

He further warned what he described as a small group of individuals with malicious intentions against using the issue to attack Iran, Islam, or former jihad leaders, saying such efforts would fail to gain public support.

Mohaqiq concluded by offering prayers for the late “Martyred Imam,” wishing good health for Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and expressing hopes for peace, stability, and prosperity for the Iranian people.
