DID Press: Turkish authorities have detained more than 100 participants in an anti-NATO demonstration organized by the Communist Party of Türkiye ahead of an upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.

The protest took place in central Ankara, where the Communist Party of Türkiye said its members gathered in Kızılay Square and were later detained by security forces.
According to the party’s statement, more than 100 participants, including several party officials, were taken into custody during the rally.
International media reports say demonstrators carried banners and chanted slogans opposing NATO, including calls for the alliance to leave the country. Riot police reportedly used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
In the lead-up to the summit, Turkish authorities tightened security measures in the capital, banning public gatherings, closing major roads, and deploying heavy security forces across key areas.
Türkiye is set to host leaders from NATO’s 32 member states, along with representatives from partner countries, during the two-day summit in Ankara.
Additional demonstrations were also held in Istanbul, including marches from Taksim Square to Dolmabahçe and separate gatherings in Kadıköy, which ended without major clashes.
The Turkish government has not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrests or the protests.
