Islam Qala Port Development Plan Finalized and Signed
DID Press: Local Taliban officials in Herat Province have announced the finalization and signing of a detailed development plan for the Islam Qala Port, aimed at improving infrastructure, organizing trade facilities, and expanding transport services at the key border crossing with Iran.

Officials said the plan was prepared following technical studies and takes into account current and future regional needs, population growth, trade expansion, transport networks, and urban development requirements.
The development blueprint includes plans for road networks, commercial and service areas, public facilities, green spaces, transport infrastructure, water supply systems, and other essential urban facilities based on technical and urban planning standards.
According to local officials, implementation of the project is expected to improve land-use management, create investment opportunities, facilitate trade flows, strengthen transport services, and enhance urban infrastructure around the border port.
Islam Qala is one of Afghanistan’s most important border crossings with Iran and serves as a major hub for trade and transit activities. Officials say improving its infrastructure could significantly increase the country’s regional trade capacity.
