US Maritime Analyst: Iran Has Advanced Strategy to Control Strait of Hormuz

DID Press: US maritime strategy researcher Ian Ralby has said that Iran has made progress in implementing its strategy for managing and influencing maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes.

Ralby, a senior researcher specializing in maritime security, told U.S. media outlets that Iran has developed new mechanisms aimed at managing vessel movements, monitoring maritime traffic, and shaping transit procedures in the strategic waterway.

He said the reported establishment of a “Persian Gulf Waterway Management Authority” reflects Tehran’s efforts to organize shipping routes, oversee maritime activity, and implement new frameworks for sea transportation.

Ralby added that Iran has been effective in advancing this policy and achieving its strategic objectives regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is considered a critical global trade route due to the large volume of energy shipments that pass through it every year.
