Afghanistan Exports 290,000 Tones of Fresh Fruit to Global Markets
DID Press: Afghanistan exported nearly 290,000 tonnes of fresh fruit worth $141 million during the past year, with apples, grapes, and pomegranates accounting for the largest share of shipments, according to the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The ministry said Afghan fresh fruit exports were shipped to India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Central Asian countries, Russia, and several European markets, reflecting continued demand for the country’s horticultural products.
According to the ministry’s figures, apples ranked as Afghanistan’s leading fresh fruit export, generating $44 million in export revenue. Grapes and pomegranates followed as the country’s other top fresh fruit exports.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce described the increase in horticultural exports as an important step toward expanding Afghanistan’s foreign trade, supporting fruit growers, and strengthening export revenues. The ministry added that efforts will continue to improve access to regional and international markets.
