Bamyan Has Significant Economic Potential, Chamber of Commerce Chief Says

DID Press: The head of the Taliban-run Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, who is leading a delegation to Bamyan province, has met with the provincial governor, local officials, traders, investors and representatives of the private sector to discuss economic and business issues.

The meetings focused on trade and investment, Bamyan’s economic potential, challenges facing traders and ways to support the private sector. The chamber chief stressed the need to expand trade, encourage investment, create job opportunities and strengthen cooperation between local authorities and the private sector.

He said Bamyan has significant potential in agriculture, industry, trade, tourism and investment, adding that utilizing these capacities could contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction.

The head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also pledged 2 million afghanis in support of the Bamyan Chamber of Commerce and Investment to address renovation needs and support its activities.

At the end of the visit, a meeting was held with local officials, traders, investors and private-sector representatives. Participants emphasized continued cooperation to improve the business environment and expand economic activities in Bamyan.
