DID Press: United States has implemented a new round of import tariffs targeting goods from more than 80 countries, a move expected to intensify global trade tensions and increase the cost of international commerce.

According to international media reports, the new tariffs range from 10% to 12.5% and apply to imports from major U.S. trading partners, including Canada, Mexico, the European Union, China, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and South Korea.
The White House said the measures are aimed at curbing imports of goods produced using forced labor.U.S. officials said the policy is part of the administration’s broader strategy to protect domestic manufacturing, address unfair trade practices and improve transparency in global supply chains.
The move has drawn criticism from several U.S. trading partners. Officials from the European Union, Canada and other countries described the tariffs as unilateral, unjustified and inconsistent with the principles of free trade, warning they could trigger retaliatory measures and escalate global trade disputes.
