Mullah Baradar: Afghanistan Aims to Become Regionally Competitive in Tech

DID Press: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said Afghanistan is seeking to strengthen its position in the information technology sector and become more competitive with regional countries through expanded digital infrastructure and technology development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a telecommunications and information technology exhibition, Baradar said the Taliban administration is implementing broad initiatives to enhance Afghanistan’s technological capabilities.

He said the objective is to transform Afghanistan into a country capable of competing in the technology sector alongside other nations in the region and beyond.

Baradar also highlighted what he described as progress in e-government initiatives, saying telecommunications coverage has expanded to wider parts of the country since the Taliban returned to power and that notable advances have been made in the digitalization of government administrative systems.
