Taliban, Turkey Discuss Academic and Healthcare Cooperation

DID Press: Taliban’s acting Minister of Higher Education has called on Turkey to support the reconstruction of damaged university facilities, strengthen teaching hospitals, and expand academic and medical cooperation during talks with Ankara’s ambassador in Kabul.

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education, acting minister Neda Mohammad Nadim met with Cihad Erginay, Turkey’s ambassador to Afghanistan, to discuss bilateral cooperation in higher education, healthcare, and educational infrastructure.

During the meeting, Nadim requested Turkey’s assistance in rebuilding damaged facilities at Aliabad University, describing the project as one of the ministry’s key priorities.

He also called for the deployment of Turkish specialist doctors to provide medical services and professional training, the modernization of teaching hospitals affiliated with the ministry, and enhanced scientific and technical capacity-building for Afghan educational institutions.

The Taliban official described Turkey as an important partner in the development of Afghanistan’s education and healthcare sectors and expressed hope for broader cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and medical services.

For his part, Ambassador Cihad Erginay reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to maintaining educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation with Afghanistan, saying Ankara is prepared to strengthen ties between academic institutions of the two countries within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
