DID Press: Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), known as Hashd al-Shaabi, has accused the United States and Saudi Arabia of carrying out attacks on Iraqi military positions, with a senior media official claiming the operation was conducted with the political backing of U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a post on X, Muhannad al-Aqabi, the PMF’s media official, said the strikes came only hours after a meeting between Netanyahu and Trump, alleging that Saudi Arabia, in coordination with the United States, launched attacks on official Iraqi military facilities.
Al-Aqabi said the strikes resulted in the deaths of several PMF members, describing them as attacks on Iraq’s officially recognized military institutions.
He further claimed that the incident revived painful memories of past bombings and suicide attacks that targeted Iraqi civilians and public marketplaces, saying the latest events recalled one of the country’s darkest periods of violence.
