India Criticizes Pakistan Army Remarks on Kabul–New Delhi Relations

DID Press: India has criticized recent remarks by a Pakistani military spokesperson regarding ties between Kabul and New Delhi, describing them as a reflection of Islamabad’s “insecurity and concerns” over growing cooperation between India and Afghanistan.

Pakistan Army spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry recently commented on Afghanistan-India relations, stating that Muslims should not establish friendships with “non-believers” and questioning the historical and cultural links between India and Afghanistan. He also repeated longstanding Pakistani allegations that India supports militant activities inside Pakistan.

Responding to the remarks, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said during a press briefing that the statements reflected Pakistan’s concerns over the expanding and positive relationship between India and Afghanistan.

Jaiswal emphasized that the growing engagement between Kabul and New Delhi was based on historical ties and mutual interests, while rejecting Islamabad’s criticism.
