Isolation Center Construction Launched at Key Herat Border Crossing
DID Press: Construction of a new isolation center has officially begun at the zero point of Islam Qala in Herat, aimed at strengthening public health services and disease control capacity.

According to a statement from the Herat provincial office, the project is being implemented at a cost of more than 8.4 million Afghanis under an agreement between the Ministry of Public Health and OCCD, with funding provided by the World Health Organization.
Officials said the facility is designed to enhance prevention, monitoring, and response to communicable diseases at one of Afghanistan’s most critical border transit points.
They added that once completed, the center will significantly improve healthcare response capacity, particularly in managing infectious diseases, and help address existing challenges at the Islam Qala crossing.
Authorities also emphasized the need to accelerate construction and expand institutional cooperation to further improve healthcare services across Herat province.
