DID Press: Yemen’s Ansarullah forces launched dozens of missiles and drones at the strategic port of Mokha on the Red Sea early Sunday, in an attack that reportedly killed at least seven people and injured 30 others, according to the Yemeni army.
The Yemeni army said four military personnel and three civilians were killed in the missile and drone attack. At least 30 people were also wounded.
According to the army, air-defense systems intercepted and shot down 11 drones, but the scale of the missile barrage caused significant damage to urban infrastructure. Military positions, civilian infrastructure and residential areas were reportedly affected.
Al Masirah television, affiliated with Ansarullah, released footage showing the launch of several ballistic missiles and drones. Yahya Saree, the group’s military spokesman, said the operation targeted gatherings of Saudi forces and weapons depots.
Mokha Port is located near one of the region’s key shipping routes, and continued attacks in the area have raised concerns over maritime security and commercial shipping.
The attack comes as the Red Sea crisis, the war in Yemen and wider regional security tensions continue to put additional pressure on trade and energy routes across the Middle East.
Analysts say the attack underscores the growing risks to regional maritime security as tensions surrounding the Yemen conflict continue.
