WSJ: 42 US Aircraft Destroyed or Damaged in Iranian Attacks

DID Press: The Wall Street Journal has reported that Iranian attacks on U.S. military bases across the Middle East, including in Jordan, have highlighted the growing threat posed by Iranian missiles and drones, while the United States remains insufficiently prepared to defend its bases and personnel.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran has carried out more than 2,000 air, missile and drone attacks across the Middle East since the launch of an operation described as “Epic Fury,” damaging at least 20 U.S. military sites in eight countries across the region.

The newspaper reported that Iran has inflicted an estimated $13 billion in equipment and infrastructure losses on the United States, while more than 42 U.S. military aircraft have been destroyed or damaged. Some of the aircraft were stationed at U.S. air bases in the region.

The report said the choice facing the U.S. Congress and the Pentagon is clear: either allocate the necessary funding now to protect military bases and critical infrastructure or risk facing a more serious crisis in the future.

The latest report has renewed debate over the effectiveness of U.S. defenses against Iranian attacks and Washington’s preparedness to protect its forces and military facilities across the region.
