DID Press: The New York Times reported that Donald Trump, during the NATO summit in Turkey, secretly left the country in an unprecedented operation after receiving security warnings about threats from Iran, hiding in a catering service container before being transferred to a military jet.
According to The New York Times, Trump, who had arrived in Turkey aboard a $400 million luxury jet donated by Qatar, pretended in front of cameras that he intended to return on the old Air Force One. But this move was only a cover for a complex security operation.
Two senior U.S. officials confirmed that after appearing to board the old aircraft, Trump exited from the opposite side and was transferred in a special food-service container to a C-32A military jet. Reporters and White House staff who flew on the old aircraft were effectively used as “decoys” to divert attention; even the window curtains in the press section were closed so that the change of aircraft would not be noticed.
After arriving in Britain, Trump was transferred back to the old aircraft so that he could appear before reporters as though he had traveled on the same plane. He then crossed the airport runway in front of the media and boarded the Qatari jet to return to Washington. The operation was designed in coordination with senior U.S. military and security officials.
The New York Times report also referred to the controversies that followed, including Trump’s order for a criminal investigation into journalists after security concerns about the Qatari jet were disclosed. The Justice Department even issued subpoenas involving the families of some journalists, prompting widespread reactions and ultimately a judicial retreat.
The incident, which media outlets described as a “massive deception of journalists,” revealed the level of distrust and extraordinary security measures during Trump’s presidency. A White House spokesperson, responding to criticism, said: “We use every tool, including distraction and deception, to counter threats.”
