DID Press: Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the political-military administration of Russia’s armed forces and commander of the Akhmat special forces, has warned that further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East could ultimately lead to the destruction of Israel as a state.
Speaking to Russia’s TASS news agency, Alaudinov said the war in the Middle East was likely to intensify. He alleged that Israel was seeking to broaden the conflict and draw the United States and NATO member states into the war.
Alaudinov further warned that Israel could ultimately overestimate its military power and “cease to exist as a state.”
The remarks come amid continued regional tensions following the reported start of a US-Israeli war against Iran on February 28.
