Guterres Condemns Israeli Intervention at UNRWA Training Center

DID Press: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned actions by Israeli authorities to unlawfully enter and carry out unauthorized activities at the Qalandia Training Center, operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied East Jerusalem.

Guterres warned that the intervention would prevent young people who had been receiving vocational training at the center from continuing their education.

The UN chief described the actions against UNRWA facilities as “completely unacceptable” and contrary to Israel’s clear obligations under international law.

He called on the Israeli government to immediately cease interference with UNRWA facilities, vacate the affected premises, return and repair any damaged property, and refrain from any further interference with or damage to UNRWA facilities.
