DID Press: A senior Iranian military spokesman has accused several international Persian-language media outlets of links to foreign intelligence agencies and said Iran’s armed forces consider them part of its list of military targets.
Brig. Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi, a senior spokesman for Iran’s armed forces, said outlets including the BBC, Iran International and Radio Farda were directly connected to what he described as hostile intelligence agencies, including Israel’s Mossad and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, and received operational guidance and support from them.
Shekarchi said Iran’s armed forces did not regard the organizations as legitimate media outlets, accusing them of contributing to violence and psychological instability.He further alleged that the outlets promoted violence and acted as “soldiers” for Israel and the United States, adding that they were included in what he described as Iran’s “military target bank.
