DID Press: Newly released photographs obtained exclusively by CBS News show extensive damage to U.S. military positions in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait following Iranian missile and drone attacks, including damage to aircraft, buildings, barracks, vehicles and other military equipment.
The photographs were provided anonymously to CBS News by active-duty U.S. service members, who cited military restrictions on media access. The images show damage at several U.S. positions across the region.
At Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, one photograph shows a U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry aircraft with severe damage to its rear section. The aircraft is equipped with a rotating radar system used for airborne surveillance, early warning and command-and-control operations.
Other images from the Saudi base show damaged buildings and barracks. CBS also published photographs from Camp Buehring and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait showing damaged buildings, trailers, vehicles and other equipment.
The photographs were published shortly after the U.S. Department of War Office of Inspector General released a report on Operation Epic Fury. CBS News reported that the report identified up to $3.7 billion in equipment losses, including nearly 60 aircraft, and documented Iranian strikes on U.S. positions in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to CBS News’ request for comment on the photographs.
The newly published images provide additional visual evidence of damage to U.S. military infrastructure in the region. However, the full extent of the damage and the circumstances surrounding individual incidents remain subject to assessment by U.S. military authorities.
