Iranian Investors Express Readiness to Invest in Herat’s Industrial and Economic Sectors

DID Press: A group of Iranian businesspeople and investors has expressed readiness to explore investment opportunities in Herat’s industrial, agricultural and infrastructure sectors during a meeting with Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban-appointed governor of Herat.

The Iranian business delegation discussed Herat’s economic potential and opportunities for expanding trade and investment cooperation with the provincial authorities.

During the meeting, Iranian private-sector representatives highlighted Herat’s economic capacities and called for broader trade relations and greater opportunities for Iranian investors to operate in the province.

The delegation also said it was prepared to assess and potentially implement investment projects in Herat’s industrial and broader economic sectors.

Islamjar welcomed the participation of Iranian investors and outlined the province’s potential in industry, agriculture and infrastructure development. He said the local administration was prepared to facilitate investment procedures and support productive projects.

Herat has increasingly been presented by local authorities as an important centre for trade and investment because of its location on Afghanistan’s western border with Iran. Earlier this month, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Afghanistan also discussed trade, transit and investment opportunities with Islamjar, who said Herat was prepared to receive domestic and foreign investment.

A previous visit by a 65-member Iranian delegation to Herat also focused on agricultural investment, exports and imports, with the two sides discussing a joint agricultural investment company and technical cooperation in crop production.
