Afghanistan Falls to 157th in Global Positive Peace Index

DID Press: Afghanistan has fallen to 157th place out of 163 countries in the latest Positive Peace Index released by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP).

According to the report, Afghanistan scored 4.19 out of 5, placing it among the seven countries at the bottom of the global ranking.

The data shows that Afghanistan’s level of positive peace followed a downward trend between 2015 and 2024.

The report identifies declining political freedoms, restrictions on press freedom, and reduced access to information as among the factors affecting Afghanistan’s ranking.

It also points to declines in indicators including the quality of information, equality among groups, and the effectiveness of government.
