Iran Allows Migrant Children With Incomplete Documents to Enroll in Schools

DID Press: Nader Yarahmadi, head of Iran’s Foreign Nationals and Migrants Affairs Center at the Ministry of Interior, said children whose parents hold valid residency in Iran can enroll in schools even if their residency documents are incomplete. He said the missing documents can be completed during the academic year.

Yarahmadi said holding a passport alone does not constitute legal residency in Iran and that foreign nationals must obtain a valid residency permit to stay legally in the country.

He also rejected reports that foreign nationals have been given a 15-day deadline to visit authorized offices, saying no such deadline has been included in the center’s official guidelines.

Yarahmadi said the cost of obtaining a study permit or referral letter for foreign-national students is 171,000 Iranian tomans.
