Taliban Defense Ministry Accuses Pakistan of Seeking to Destabilize Region

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Taliban-run Ministry of Defense has accused Pakistani forces of training and deploying armed individuals and urged regional countries to remain vigilant against what it described as a Pakistani “project to destabilize the region.”

In a statement, the ministry alleged that individuals receive military training in Pakistan before being sent to other countries to create insecurity. It described the alleged activity as part of a “project to export war” from Pakistan to countries across the region.

The statement provided no further details about the identities of those allegedly trained, the locations of the training sites or evidence of their deployment. The allegations could not be independently verified.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rejected the accusations, saying no evidence had been presented to substantiate claims that Pakistani security or intelligence agencies were involved in training former Afghan forces or supporting ISIS or other armed groups. Islamabad also described allegations regarding Pakistan’s role in recent incidents in Nuristan as “baseless.”

The accusations come amid heightened security tensions between Kabul and Islamabad in recent months, with both sides accusing each other of supporting armed groups and allowing insecurity to spill across their borders.
