Foreign Nationals Gain Online Access to Company Registration in Iran

DID Press: Iran’s Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties has announced that foreign nationals can now register companies through the electronic Kateb platform. The program uses online identity verification to facilitate company registration and access to legal and registration services for non-Iranians.

Mohsen Taherian, deputy head of technology development and electronic registration services at Iran’s Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties, said the necessary infrastructure has been established to enable foreign nationals to access the Kateb platform.

Under the scheme, foreign nationals enter the digital identity-verification process by providing a 12-digit identification code and a mobile phone number registered to that code. Once their information is verified, their user accounts on the system will be activated.

In the first phase, services related to business activities and company registration have been made available to foreign nationals. They can complete the company-registration process through the Kateb platform without visiting offices in person and access legal services related to economic activities in Iran.

Taherian said the technical infrastructure that has been established can be expanded, and that additional registration and legal services will be made available to foreign nationals on the platform in later phases.

Iran’s Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties described the move as part of the expansion of electronic services and efforts to facilitate non-Iranians’ access to official and economic services. The activation of the service shifts foreign nationals’ access to the formal business-registration process from in-person visits to a digital procedure.
