DID Press: Pakistani military says 11 militants were killed during separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

According to the Pakistani military, five members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during an operation in South Waziristan near the Afghan border, and their hideout was destroyed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, according to the military.

In the Mashkel area of Balochistan, six members of a Baloch armed group were also killed. The Pakistani military said the militants had opened fire on a security checkpoint and were attempting to flee when security forces responded.

The operations were carried out under Pakistan’s Azm-e-Istehkam security initiative and Operation Radd-ul-Fitan 3, according to Pakistani security sources.

The reported death toll and details of the operations have not been independently verified. Pakistani authorities use the terms “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan” for the militant groups involved in the operations.
