UNAMA: Teachers’ Role in Afghanistan More Important Than Ever

DID Press: UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), marking World Teachers’ Day, has expressed appreciation for Afghanistan’s teachers, particularly those working in remote areas who continue educating students despite difficult conditions and limited resources.

UNAMA said teachers transform lives by educating, inspiring and guiding people, while playing an important role in laying the foundations for peaceful and prosperous societies. The mission is mandated to support the Afghan people and promote education, human rights and stability in Afghanistan.

Referring to the growing influence of artificial intelligence, social media and the spread of misinformation around the world, UNAMA said the role of teachers has become “more important than ever.”

The UN mission also thanked teachers who, despite ongoing challenges and restrictions, continue to educate and guide future generations with commitment and dedication, saying their work provides generations with hope and motivation.
