Khalilzad Warns of Potential Security Risks from Chinese Electric Cars in Europe

DID Press: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation, has warned that the growing presence of Chinese-made electric vehicles in NATO member states and European Union markets could raise national security concerns.

Khalilzad said the vehicles’ advanced technology and digital systems could potentially be used to collect information near sensitive military facilities in Europe.

He claimed that more than one million Chinese electric vehicles enter NATO countries’ markets annually, arguing that their growing presence could pose risks to information security and the protection of military installations.

Khalilzad has urged European institutions, particularly the German government, to review their policies on imports of Chinese electric vehicles.
