US Warns China Is Expanding Its Space-Based Military and Weapons Capabilities
DID Press: US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has warned that China is expanding its counterspace capabilities, expressing concern over the development of electronic jamming systems and anti-satellite weapons, according to a new report on space security threats.

The report emphasizes that China’s capabilities are not limited to ground-based systems but also include electronic warfare equipment deployed in Earth’s orbit. For the first time, the DIA has referred to the existence of such systems within China’s broader military space capabilities.
The agency also said Chinese companies are developing electronic jammers designed to target synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems, including equipment used on military reconnaissance satellites.
The report further assesses that China’s military is likely seeking to increase the number of its anti-satellite missiles, which are designed to destroy satellites in Earth’s orbit.
US assessors have warned that some of China’s experimental satellites could be used in military space operations, including disabling or destroying other satellites.
