DID Press: US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has accused North Korea of involvement in a large-scale cyberattack targeting cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

According to the agency, the attack may have resulted in losses exceeding $6.3 billion.
The FBI said virtual assets worth more than $6 billion were stolen from Binance on October 29, 2026. The agency attributed the attack to the hacking group known as TraderTraitor, which it says is linked to North Korea.
In a statement, the FBI said the hackers intend to convert most of the stolen assets into Ethereum before laundering the funds through decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and instant exchange services. However, the agency did not provide evidence in its statement to substantiate the allegation.
Meanwhile, Binance announced that it would allocate 50 percent of the resources in its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) to help cover losses resulting from the attack.
The exchange had also said that it had recovered 90 percent of the assets stolen in the incident.
