DID Press: Despite Saudi Arabia’s massive spending to recruit some of the world’s most prominent football stars, its Pro League has yet to secure a place among the top 20 football leagues globally.

According to the latest Opta rankings, published on November 6, 2026, the Saudi Pro League does not feature among the world’s 20 strongest leagues, while several competitions with considerably lower levels of investment have secured higher positions.
The English Premier League tops the ranking with a score of 92.1, followed by Spain’s La Liga in second place and Germany’s Bundesliga in third.
Mexico’s Liga MX ranks 16th, while Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States occupies 17th place. The Saudi Pro League, however, remains outside the top 20.
The ranking is based on Opta’s statistical model, known as the “Opta Power Rankings”, which assesses the overall strength of teams in each league rather than simply measuring clubs’ spending or the fame of their players.
