Election is Not Gamble, all people Should have Representative: Hekmatyar
The leader of Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar reacted against the statements of president Ghani during a press conference on Tuesday 17 July.
The leader of Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar reacted against the statements of president Ghani during a press conference on Tuesday 17 July.
On Sunday, president Ghani said that political parties are not the representative of the people and cannot boycott the election.
In response to the statement of president Ghani, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said that “no one has the right to say that political parties are not the representative of the people”.
“election is not a gamble, but every citizen of this country should have a representative at the parliament,” Hekmatyar said in a press conference. “the parties so not destroy the election process, this is being carried out by government and some circles that seek their lives in the war,” he added. Hekmatyar said: the government extended the work of the parliament for three years or the parties? “the parties are not seeking to destroy the election, the government itself has destroyed the election,” the leader of Hezb-e Islami continued. “the president once agreed with the parties’ will to use biometric system in the election but the foreigners opposed it”.
Coalitions are failed
In another part of his rhetoric, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said that coalitions have always failed in the country.
“coalitions have not improved in the country so far, other than holding several press conferences,” he said.
In particular, he mentioned the formation of major National Coalition and the Coalition for the Salvation of Afghanistan, adding that these coalitions will fail.
In addition, Mr Hekmatyar opposed with interim government plan and supported the current government.
Peace negotiations should continue
“peace negotiations should continue. There is no option instead of peace negotiations and my party backs up negotiations with Taliban,” Hekmatyar said.
He also supported the Taliban’s direct talks with the United States and added that nothing will detract from the political and legal prestige of the government in this regard.
Hekmatyar backlashed Latif Pedram, MP.
Hekmatyar once again backlashed against political activities of Latif Pedram, considering him a “hated and rejected face in the community”.
“if anyone (Pedram) does not accept Afghanistan and Afghan, he alone does not receive ID card, but has no right to deprive the entire nation of receiving ID cards,” the leader of Hezb-e Islami warned.
it is worth mentioning that president Ghani opposed with the plan of the political parties about the election.
