According to the law, the government is responsible to keep journalists safe, Nai said.
AFP taxi driver Akhtar Mohammad was killed in a suicide attack on 22 July Kabul airport square when going to his duty.
He had worked with the AFP for 10 years in Kabul. Akhtar Mohammad, a 31-year-old father of four was among 23 people killed in a suicide attack.
Since the beginning of the solar year, 14 media workers, 12 journalists and 2 employees of the security and media sectors have been the victim of the country’s insecurity.
“based on the law, the Afghan government is responsible for protecting the lives of all citizens, and especially journalists who are most vulnerable,” said Abdul Mujib Khalwatgar, the CEO of Nai. “We hope this would be the last victim of the media family in the country, and the government should take a regular and codified strategy to contain the terrorist attacks and protect journalists in particular,” he added.
The office of Nai expressed concerns over the death of journalists and media employees, stressing that the Afghan government should take special measures to protect the lives of journalists and media outlets.
23 people were killed and at least 107 more injured during a suicide attack in Kabul airport.
