The chairman of Indonesian ulema council Mohammad Sediq met with Afghanistan’s ulema council members during a visit from Kabul on 3 November.

During the meeting, Mr. Sediq emphasized on the willingness of his country to hold a trilateral summit in the future, after receiving the suggestions from the Afghan side and using those proposals to continue his countries commitments and cooperation.
“a delegation of Indonesian religious scholars will travel to Pakistan and Jeddah, and the date to hold the trilateral meeting will be declared after concluding the views of the three delegations,” he added.

Meanwhile, the deputy head of the HPC Mawlawi Abdulkhaibar Ichqun emphasized the importance of holding the trilateral conference.
Mohammad Qasim Halimi, a member of the HPC council noted that a small technical board would be formed to discuss the components of the work, and that it would be the decision-making body itself.

In the end, the deputy head of the HPC stressed that we all agree on three points.
First: the conference should be held in late 2018.
Second: the time for the conference should be two days.
Third: a delegation from the three countries should be formed to discuss the resolution.

The first trilateral conference of the religious scholars from Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Pakistan was held on 11 May 2018 in the city of Bogor, Indonesia. The 3-day conference was ended by issuing a resolution.
The participants of the conference considered the suicide attacks contrary to Islamic principles and asked the parties involved in the war in Afghanistan to join the peace process.
